How to Use a Nicotine Pouch: A Step-by-Step Guide for Adults
New to pouches? Here is how to place one, how long to leave it in, how to dispose of it, and how to choose a strength.
If you are an adult nicotine user trying pouches for the first time, these are the basic steps.
1. Choose a strength
Pouch strength is shown in mg of nicotine per pouch. Our strength guide explains what the numbers mean.
2. Take one pouch from the can
Most cans have a compartment in the lid for used pouches, so keep the can with you.
3. Place it under your top lip
Put the pouch between your gum and your top lip. You do not need to chew or suck it.
4. Leave it in place
Pack instructions often suggest leaving a pouch in for about 20 to 60 minutes, but this varies by brand. Follow the manufacturer's guidance printed on the can. A tingling sensation is common.
5. Dispose of it properly
Put the used pouch in the lid compartment or a bin. Do not flush it or drop it as litter.
Storing your pouches
Keep cans sealed and away from heat. Keep them out of reach of children and pets. Nicotine is toxic if swallowed.
A reminder
Nicotine is addictive. Nicotine pouches are for adults aged 18 and over who already use nicotine.
