Nicotine Pouch Strength Explained: mg per Pouch vs mg/g
Two cans can both say "10" and contain very different amounts of nicotine. Here is what mg per pouch and mg/g actually mean, and how to convert between them.
Nicotine pouch strength is written in two different ways, and mixing them up is the most common mistake when comparing products.
mg per pouch
Milligrams per pouch is the amount of nicotine in one pouch. This is the figure Pouch Haus uses on every product card and product page. A product listed at 10mg has 10 milligrams of nicotine in each pouch.
mg/g
Milligrams per gram is a concentration: how much nicotine there is in each gram of pouch material. Some manufacturers print this on the can instead.
Converting between them
The conversion depends on how much one pouch weighs:
mg per pouch = mg/g × pouch weight in grams
For example, a pouch that weighs 0.5g and is labelled 20 mg/g contains 20 × 0.5 = 10mg per pouch. The same 20 mg/g label on a heavier 0.8g pouch works out at 16mg per pouch. This is only arithmetic: to use it for a real product, you need that product's own weight and mg/g figures from the manufacturer.
How we group strengths
Our shop groups products into strength bands by mg per pouch so you can compare like with like. You can browse by band from the Strengths menu, for example light, regular and strong.
Energy pouches are measured differently
Energy pouches contain caffeine, not nicotine, so their strength is given in milligrams of caffeine. Read energy pouches vs nicotine pouches for more.
